My name is Donna Richards, I spent the last 25 years as a Real Estate Representative, a career which truly got me pumping with great delight.
In 2000 a feeling of dis-satisfaction with my income, the yo-yo syndrome and the frequency of qualified buyers failing to obtain a mortgage after months of being in Contract, forced me to actively look to make a career change which offered either more stability or additional income.
I looked at many opportunities and attended several introductory seminars, namely becoming an Air Traffic Controller however, hypertension quickly squashed that possibility.
I purchased the 4X Made Easy Program, it was easy to learn unfortunately, at that time there were no ceiling caps to protect or hedge against losses as they later incorporated into the program today. With extra funds not flowing freely or abundantly, using the program for financial gain and investment was a huge challenge. Gracefully, I quickly secured the program back in the box; for later use in future days of prosperity.
For a while I associated with many new professions; Government Grants, the early distribution of Cell Phones, Legal Shield, Adyss International and Vi Salus to name a few. As a possible start to a new or second career.
Online Marketing Introduction
February 2007, I attended a seminar and was introduced to the Online Marketing Industry. Instantly, I jumped at the opportunity as it offered features I was looking for in a new career.
· 24 / 7 availability, while I’m asleep the product is working through the world- wide- web
· No storefront expense or rent
· No large initial capital investment to start
· Most importantly it was in a new industry and I was getting in at the start before it took off.
I was happy, I was overjoyed, I felt relieved and vibrant again. I saw no obstacles only opportunities, my enthusiasm allowed me to quickly receive, absorb and relate to the material in the 2 day workshop.
In sales, “It’s said, don’t sell the Stake sell the sizzle.” I literally bought all the sizzle offered during the 2 day workshop. It was like being in love, I was in a state of euphoria, nothing was impossible. In the presentation, I only saw what was good and what was promising. I was not scared neither was I intimidated by a new Industry which I knew absolute NOTHING about.
The company was reputable, the presentation was phenomenal, showing the New Age of Technology but, it was very expensive. Never the less; with thousands of dollars in demand, enthusiastically I signed up for the program.
For 5 months, I diligently followed the instructions on getting started, I looked for PRODUCTS to offer Online, but I was unable to find a product which I believed in, neither was I excited with the possibility of any product idea I researched.
With much soul searching, I resorted to the Ben Franklin technique of writing my likes and dislikes on a piece of paper, I realized two things. One my heart was still very much in love with the Real Estate Industry.
Secondly I was in love, intoxicated with the concept, the idea and the opportunities presented with the World Wide Web and the Online Marketing Industry.
I believed that the Online Marketing Industry had the potential to revolutionize every Industry and every Country in the world.
The next agonizing question was. How can I combine my two loves? Secondly, What NEW PRODUCT can I offer in the Real Estate Industry?
The answer was NONE!!!
These two questions were my first of many, many, many hurdles to overcome.
Greater Ad Exposure
In 2007 the underlying constraints of the Real Estate Industry began surfacing, mortgage qualifications rapidly became more stringent, and cancellation was at an all-time high. In a mental state of the unknown, Agents began complaining and murmuring way before the Real Estate market crash in 2008.
As GOOD and as FAITHFUL as the Multiple listing Service WAS and IS, the various Real Estate Magazines, the Home Finders, the Newspaper Ads, Caravans, Open-House showings, the Drive by Talking House and Referrals are to the Industry.
All of these Real Estate tools were not enough to hedge against the pending market crash of 2007-2008.
As Agents, we worked more diligently and much harder during this time than any other time with little or no success. It is well documented that Thousands of Agents simply left the Industry during this time.
During that time my office was affiliated with Re/Max, we started off the New Year with Re/Max training, Special Instructors were brought in, and we also included Floyd Wickman training. We implementing more techniques, in addition to what we normally used, still good sell-able properties sat idly on the market. In frustration to the slowness in the market Agents began murmuring, even more stating, “That we need more qualified and more cash buyers in the market”.
One sad lonely Sunday afternoon, as I sat at another failed Open-House Session, no one came to view the house not even curious neighbors, nor the church folks who passes and looked at the balloons and the sign. In sadness I heard my-self say, “I wished we had a special platform like the MLS to showcase all listings be it Residential, Commercial or Industrial listings under one umbrella. BUYERS in Texas, California, Canada or Australia any- where in the world, can have access to our SPECIAL listings which they can TRUST and RELY UPON; to see and buy our listings, not just BUYERS in our Local Area.”
At first I did not connect the dots with my verbal desire, or thought it was the answer I was looking for, in my new Online Service. My head was swarmed with yet another listing which was about to expire, the money spent on the Sunday Newspaper Ad, the extra money spent for bold text which resulted with no offers not even 1 visitor.
The accumulation of money spent on Ads, a $25,000 renovation budget spent by a particular family at my recommendation to remodel and make home improvements, believing it would result in multiple offer to enter into Contract for a sale on the property. This was a horrific defeat which took a toll on me. It took weeks before I was able to process all hurt and the bitter disappointment into a seed of good.
After that last Sunday’s Open House, I too jumped on the band wagon of murmuring and complaining about the need for more qualified buyers in the market. Oh! How misery love company.
Finally, I realized that GREATER AD EXPOSURE is a legitimate NEED in any and all Real Estate markets.
The wheels in my head began turning, giving birth to REAL ESTATE ONLINE ADVERTISING SERVICES.
REASONING:
♦ It is in the Real Estate Industry which I LOVE, and which I have already given over 25 years of service and experience.
♦ The WORLD WIDE WED is the perfect TOOL to give that avalanche of EXPOSURE I envisioned that Sunday evening.
♦ A Real Estate service which can give GREATER AD EXPOSURE in addition to our traditional marketing tools and it is also COST EFFECTIVE is awesome.
♦ Statics proved and I was convinced that the Real Estate Industry and all major Industries will soon be Online and high tech savvy, giving MASS COMMUNICATION INSTANTANEOUSLY to our inventory of listings.
♦ The market crash of 2007-08 allowed us to see the legitimate need for more exposure, greater than what we had. Exposure from the World Wide Web, is the foundation for mass communication, a fundamental and an elementary marketing tool in the Real Estate Industry.
These 5 heart felt rationalizations, anchored my belief in the ability of the world- wide- web, to deliver mass communication instantaneously upon demand.
This validated my confidence in the value the service could bring to the Real Estate Industry, giving additional exposure to all available properties, especially for properties sitting idly on the market, needing more traffic and exposure for a successful transaction on the property.
